Jacob Turner had his contract option exercised by the Miami Marlins for $1 million. He will return in 2014 to pitch again in the Marlins rebuilding rotation. Some may be surprised to hear this, but the Marlins are close to contending again; the rotation is set with plenty of young arms and the outfield has four great batters available. The only thing lacking from the Marlins rebuild process is the shortstop, second base, and relief pitching positions. Turner is only 22 and posted a 3.74 ERA with the Marlins after coming over from the Tigers midseason last year. Now, he looks to be a core piece of the Marlins rotation. Turner only needs to improve upon two areas: his command (compiling a 4.1 BB/9 and throwing 11 wild pitches in just 118 innings) and his fielding skills (led the NL in errors as a pitcher). If he can fix these issues, Turner looks to be a solid fourth starter in a young rotation.
Fantasy Impact - Expect Turner to be a decent bench option for pitchers. Be wary of his fastball speed in the later months of the season though because it can affect his performance greatly. This will get better with age though when he can better command his velocity throughout the entire season.

Predictions - 5-11, 175 IP, 155 H, 71 ER, 65 BB, 120 K (3.65 ERA, 1.26 WHIP)
